This is a well-illustrated history of the Renfro Valley Barn Dance, first heard from Cincinnati Music Hall over radio station WLW in 1937. By 1939, a big barn had been built in Renfro Valley, Kentucky, to accommodate the popular country group, as shown in this souvenir book. Also described and shown is the Renfro Valley Settlement. Wheeling, West Virginia Radio Station WWVA 1953 Original edition Fine This 10" x 8" glossy photo shows the Bailey Brothers in white dinner jackets and string ties, playing mandolin and guitar, standing behind a WWVA microphone. Written on the back in pencil: "1953 / Radio Corral / Charley & Danny / Bailey." Born in Happy Valley, Tennessee, the Bailey Brothers became extremely popular radio singers in the late 1940s and early 1950s. By 1953 when this photograph was taken, they were headlining in the WWVA Wheeling Jamboree. It is said that they were then a more popular bluegrass group than Bill Monroe and his boys. Price:
